Francisco Rafael Paneca Cano
Artist and Engraver , Printmaker.

Lives and work in Havana, Cuba.
Biography
Paneca Cano has spent much of his life in Arts education.
He is a 1965 graduate of the National School of Art Teachers, a 1970 graduate of the National Art School in Cubacan, Havana,Cuba.
Paneca has been teaching Design, Drawing, Engraving, and Fine Arts since 1969. His lengthy career includes tenure at schools such as the San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy, Holguin's Provincial School, the National Design School in Havana, the ENA (National Art School), Cubanacan, and the University of Havana.
Early in his career, he conducted research for the Artistic Direction of the National Governing Center. He served as National Advisor of Basic Design from 1975 to 1978 and taught in National Seminars for Design teachers between 1976 and 1978, as well as for the Ministry of Culture. He expanded the curricula in Drawing at the Higher Institute of Art in 1976. In 1979, he spent time in Angola where he developed syllabi for the teaching of Drawing, Painting and Engraving at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
Since then, he has taught his personal techniques in numerous Engraving courses abroad in countries including Canada, Venezuela, Mexico, and Sweden.
He has attended numerous biennials and coordinated scores of collective exhibitions all over the world. His works are in collections in Cuba, Colombia, Poland, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States.
Member of the UNEAC ( Union de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba) since 1978,
and a member of the International Association of Art of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization since 1980.
Paneca has been an influential figure in shaping the curricula of Arts education in Cuba.
Furthermore, Paneca Cano is one of the original supporters of the renowned “Taller Experimental de Gráfica” - Experimental Graphic Workshop of the Square of the Cathedral , Havana's most cutting edge art workshop.
He became a member in 1975 and served as the Workshop's Director from 1982 to 1991.
